Thank you Sudha for the apreciation.Yes,we as a nation are morally bankrupt at the moment. There is no point gloating about India's greatness if we can not address issues of infanticide, foeticide, rape, killing for dowry etc

An eye opening article and yes as you say it would do India good if most of the places in the Punjab and Rajasthan would emulate Jhalnia.

The practice of female infanticide is not just rampant in the north but it is also rampant in the south especially in Tamil Nadu.  Baby girls are usually fed on the sap of the cactus and they are usually fed milk with rice grains which choke the baby to death.

Good article

Yes ,Shantanu that fact is indeed ironic........hopefully the Bishnoi influence will eventually rub off on these people too and they will safe guard the girl child for who she is and who she can be........
I enjoy all your posts on merinews

"This village has two reasons for there being so many girls being born here. Some of the people are too poor to trek to doctors for scans and abortions that lead to sex ratio being skewed in favor of boys and the others belong to the Bishnoi sect that considers all life sacred and therefore protect it."

The Bishnoi factor is commendable but the fact that girls survive because the families are too poor to go to a doctor for scans is ironic though !
